Violin

Alan Dipesa Boston, 2015

Alan DiPesa spent a decade in the pharmaceutical industry as a chemist before seeking a change in career. Inspired by his grandfather, a talented woodworker and draftsman, Alan enrolled in the North Bennet Street School in Boston for violin making and repair.  Upon graduation, Alan began working at Rare Violins of New York where he spent three years doing set up and restoration work.  He has since relocated back to Boston, doing restoration and making new instruments.  Alan applies the principles and knowledge he learned as a restorer to optimize his instruments for tone and playability.
