Collaboration with Contemporary Makers
While dedicated to maintaining great violins of the past, Rare Violins of NY is also committed to encouraging and promoting the work of contemporary violin makers. In fact, both founders of Rare Violins own contemporary instruments personally, and believe that the level of today’s violin-making is higher than it’s ever been. The RVNY collection has many wonderful instruments representing a broad cross-section of today’s talent. Outstanding examples include instruments by Fiorella Anelli, William Bartruff, Douglas Cox, Alan Dipesa, Kurt Jones, Francis Kuttner, Silvio Levaggi, Tetsuo Matsuda, James McKean, Raymond Melanson, Peter & Wendela Moes, Antoine Nedelec, Guy Rabut, Anna Tartari, Joseph Thrift, Shen Jiang, and Peter Westerlund.
